This year's All-Star rosters feature a mix of legendary players such as (who has made his 12th All-Star appearance) and Albert Pujols (his 11th); along with perennial All-Stars like Mike Trout (10th appearance, and 9th as a fan-voted starter), Justin Verlander , and Clayton Kershaw (both 9th appearances), Jose Altuve (8th), in addition to Nolan Arenado , Paul Goldschmidt , and Bryce Harper (all 7th). The 2022 game will also include 30 players making their All-Star debuts, which marks the fourth year in a row that MLB features over 30 newcomers. Miguel Cabrera This year's midsummer classic will spotlight 28 All-Stars born outside the United States , with 18 representing the American League and 10 from the National League. These players hail from various countries, including the Dominican Republic (11 players), Venezuela (8), Cuba, and Puerto Rico (2 each), with one representative each from Aruba, the Bahamas, Canada, Japan, and Mexico. Out of the total 66 current MLB All-Stars, 39 have diverse cultural backgrounds, including 25 from the American League, making up more than three-quarters of that roster.

The Lineup

The Major League Baseball All-Star Game is proudly sponsored by Mastercard and will be broadcast on FOX. The All-Star Home Run Derby is scheduled for Monday, July 18th, 2022, also taking place at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles.

C - Alejandro Kirk, TOR (making his first appearance in the MLB All-Star Game)

American League Starters

This 2022 American League All-Star roster showcases a vibrant roster packed with star power, beginning with Aaron Judge . He has secured his position in the starting lineup as the leading vote-getter, having an outstanding season with 30 home runs and tied for third in RBIs with 65, along with a fourth-place OPS of .980. Joining him in the outfield are notable players like Giancarlo Stanton from the Yankees and Mike Trout from the Angels. The Yankees will be boasting the highest number of representatives, sending a total of six players to the 2022 MLB All-Star Game.

Big Energy

This will mark Trout’s 9th consecutive appearance in the MLB All-Star Game, a record streak among currently active players. He will share the field with fellow Angel Shohei Ohtani , who has been selected as both a pitcher and a hitter for the American League for the second straight year. After an MVP-winning season in 2021, Ohtani has demonstrated his prowess this season, hitting 19 home runs while achieving an impressive ERA of 2.44 across 14 starts.

Ohtani’s performance in last season’s All-Star Game, where he started and claimed a victory, is another testament to his unique talent as a two-way player, earning him fan support as a designated hitter and a pitcher.

Another team making a mark is the Toronto Blue Jays, with notable pitchers including Alejandro Kirk and Vladimir Guerrero Jr. . This is Kirk’s inaugural All-Star selection, leading all qualifying catchers with a batting average of .310 and achieving personal bests with 10 home runs and 33 RBIs.

Guerrero Jr. makes his second consecutive appearance in the All-Star Game after winning MVP honors last year with a remarkable home run off Corbin Burnes . At just 23 years old, Guerrero Jr. and Kirk represent some of the youngest talents in this year's roster.

C - Willson Contreras, CHC (his third All-Star Game appearance)

National League Starters

DH - Bryce Harper, PHI (7th) / William Contreras, ATL (1st)

1B - Paul Goldschmidt, STL (7th)

2B - Jazz Chisholm Jr., MIA (1st)

3B - Manny Machado, SD (6th)

SS - Trea Turner, LAD (2nd)

OF - Ronald Acuña Jr., ATL (3rd)

OF - Mookie Betts, LAD (6th)

OF - Joc Pederson, SF (2nd)

Fans planning to attend the 2022 MLB All-Star Game at Dodger Stadium will be pleased as the Los Angeles Dodgers are the sole National League team sending multiple players to this year’s starting lineup, featuring Mookie Betts and Trea Turner . Betts will be appearing in his sixth consecutive All-Star Game, marking his second year representing L.A., while Turner also makes his second straight All-Star Game appearance after being selected as a Washington National in the last season.

Sure to be a Treat

The Los Angeles Dodgers’ Ronald Acuña Jr. , having received the most votes in the National League, has automatically secured his spot in the All-Star lineup. Currently, he boasts a batting average of .274, with 8 home runs and 57 hits in 53 games played. This year, Acuña Jr. becomes the first player since Albert Pujols in 2009 and 2010 to lead his league in All-Star voting for consecutive years.

The reigning National League MVP, , clinched the fan vote as designated hitter. However, due to an injury preventing him from playing in the field for the Philadelphia Phillies, he will miss the 2022 MLB All-Star Game due to a fractured left thumb. His starting position has been filled by the fan-elected William Contreras.

Thus, both Contreras brothers will represent the National League as All-Star starters: William as the designated hitter and Willson as the catcher. They become the first siblings to compete in the same All-Star Game since Aaron and Bret Boone in 2003, and the first brothers on the same team since Roberto Alomar and Sandy Alomar Jr. in 1998, as well as the first brothers to start in the All-Star Game together since the Alomars in 1992. Bryce Harper This year's All-Star appearance marks Paul Goldschmidt’s first time representing the St. Louis Cardinals, as his last selection was in 2018 when he played for the Arizona Diamondbacks. He leads the National League with a .340 batting average, a .424 on-base percentage, .610 slugging percentage, and an OPS of 1.034, and has also racked up a league-high total of 107 hits.

Jazz Chisholm Jr. is the only rookie in the National League starting lineup, being the first MLB All-Star from the Bahamas. He holds a 139 OPS+, leading all National League second basemen with 14 home runs, 45 RBIs, and 12 stolen bases. He becomes the sixth Miami Marlin to be voted as an MLB All-Star Game starter, alongside Hanley Ramírez, Giancarlo Stanton, Dee Strange-Gordon, Marcell Ozuna, and Gary Sheffield. Currently, he is recovering from a lower back strain which has kept him on the sidelines since June 29, 2022, and may not return in time for the All-Star Game.
