Introduction

{3}

On February 12, 2021, the Houston Texans officially parted ways with their standout defensive end, J. J. Watt , following his recent petition to be released from the team. As a result, Watt now finds himself as a free agent, open to signing with any of the 31 teams in the NFL. Recognized as one of the premier defensive players over the last decade, he is expected to secure a new position without any trouble.

Drafted by the Houston Texans as the 11th overall selection in the first round of the 2011 NFL draft, Watt has become a powerhouse, recording the second-highest number of sacks in NFL history with 101, just behind Von Miller , who has 106 sacks.

He won the coveted NFL Watt is a three-time recipient of the NFL Defensive Player of the Year award, an honor he has achieved during his remarkable football career. This remarkable feat has only been accomplished by two other players: Lawrence Taylor from the New York Giants and Aaron Donald from the Los Angeles Rams.

Interested Teams

Reports indicate that multiple teams are eager to bring Watt on board before the start of the NFL season for 2021 – 2022, notably those franchises that are serious contenders for the Super Bowl. Pittsburgh Steelers The Pittsburgh Steelers are a likely option since both of Watt's brothers, T. J. and Derek, are part of the team, and they have shown interest in the possibility of playing alongside one another. The Green Bay Packers could also be a suitable match, as they are in dire need of an effective pass rusher, making the Watts' Wisconsin connection particularly relevant.
