Games being tested in Las Vegas -- October 11, 2018
We are currently in the midst of Global Gaming Expo week, which is recognized as the largest exhibition for the gaming sector in the U.S. It's always a vibrant, thrilling, and at times tiring week for me. Unfortunately, I don't have any captivating anecdotes from day one.
In this edition of the newsletter, I'll be discussing three gaming trials that are taking place right now in Clark County.
Super Easy Aces This game truly lives up to its name as a 'super easy' option, utilizing a special deck that consists of aces through fours, in addition to two jokers. A single Player card is drawn, and players have the option to wager on its value. There's also a Dealer card, with a bet that wins if its rank matches the Player's card. It is currently being tested at Primm Valley Resort.

Dragon Poker This game can be loosely categorized as a variant of Three Card Poker, featuring a modified deck adorned with Chinese icons such as dragons and pandas. The best strategy is straightforward: raise your bet if you have a phoenix, panda, rabbit, or a stronger hand. It's also undergoing testing at the Rio.

While the rules can be quite complex, the objective is to accumulate a total that is divisible by five by employing the Mexican train method to connect the pieces. This game is currently being trialed at the Plaza.

From the viewpoint of a game creator, securing a patent for a game that relies on traditional gambling equipment, such as a regular 52-card deck, poses significant challenges. There’s nothing innovative about the physical components. I believe this is why we are witnessing the emergence of tailored decks in new game designs.
That wraps up my updates for this hectic week. If you happen to spot me at the expo, don't hesitate to approach and say 'Hey Wiz!'
