James Madison trivia

Fourth president (1809-1817)

  1. Madison held the title of the shortest president, standing at 5 feet 4 inches tall.
  2. Both of Madison's vice presidents, George Clinton and Elbridge Gerry, passed away while in office, leaving the vice presidency unoccupied after the latter's death.
  3. Madison is one of only two presidents known to have fought in a battle. He took up arms and charged towards the front lines as British forces were assaulting Washington DC, the other president being Lincoln during the Battle of Fort Stevens in the Civil War.
  4. Following the destruction of the White House by the British, Madison resided in the Octagon House in Washington DC, a site that has since become a museum.
  5. Dolly Madison, the first lady, played an active role in orchestrating social gatherings at the White House and championed various social issues, significantly shaping the expectations of the first lady's role.
  6. The earliest memoir published about the White House was authored by Paul Jennings, who was a slave owned by Madison and served as a steward in the presidential residence.
  7. Madison is often referred to as the 'father of the Constitution,' and at the time of his passing in 1836, he was the last surviving individual who had signed the document.
  8. Although Madison had no confirmed biological offspring, there were rumors suggesting he fathered a child with one of his enslaved individuals.
  9. He managed to finish a four-year degree at what we now recognize as Princeton University in a mere two years.
  10. Madison was an exceptional writer and contributed many eloquent speeches for George Washington.

Solution to puzzle.

We can eliminate Charlie as the logician since he identified himself as a lawyer, suggesting that a logician wouldn't lie.

Bob cannot be the logician either, as he stated that Alex holds that position, leaving Alex as the only viable candidate for the logician role.

With Alex established as the logician, we can confidently accept his statement that 'Charlie is the politician' as accurate.

That means Bob must be the one left to assume the title of lawyer.
