Rules

  1. This game uses a standard deck of 52 cards, which gets reshuffled before each new hand. The rankings of the cards follow traditional poker rules, with aces always valued as high.
  2. Gameplay begins with players placing an ante and a Bonus Wager of identical amounts. There's also an additional optional side bet available for those who wish to take it.
  3. Once all bets are made, both the player and the dealer receive seven cards dealt face down. Players can view their own cards but are not permitted to disclose any information to fellow players.
  4. After checking their cards, players can either choose to raise the stakes or fold. If a player decides to raise, they must match their raise to their ante wager. If they opt to fold, they lose their ante, Bonus Wager, any side bets placed, and their hand.
  5. The dealer will flip over his cards.
  6. Hands from both the player and dealer will be evaluated using the Bonus Wager payout table. It's important to note that straights and flushes do not apply here; only pairs and above are used for resolving ties. For example, a hand like QQ66J83 would win against QQ44K97. Single cards do not have significance in hand rankings, so hands like KKQ9753 would tie against KKJ9753; any hands below a pair would result in a push.
  7. Should the player's hand rank higher than the dealer's, both the ante and raise bets will return a payout of even money.
  8. If a player achieves at least three of a kind, the payout for the bonus hand will follow the Bonus Wager Pay Table, regardless of the dealer's hand strength.
  9. If a player has fewer than three of a kind but secures a win against the dealer, their Bonus Wager will remain unchanged. However, if they have less than three of a kind and either tie or lose to the dealer's hand, the bonus bet will be lost.
  10. The side bet payouts are determined by the values of both the player's and dealer's hands. If both hands achieve winning criteria, the player will receive payouts for both. If only one hand wins, the player will get their original side bet returned, and if both hands win, the player receives back their initial side bet doubled.

The following payout schedule outlines the rewards for the Bonus Wager.

The lower right cell indicates that for an initial investment of 1 unit from each bet, the player can anticipate a loss of roughly 0.054243 units. For instance, if a player bets $100 on the ante and Bonus Wager, they might expect to lose around $5.42. The house edge is conventionally recognized as the projected loss in relation to the initial wager. Since two initial bets are taken into account, the house advantage calculates to 5.4243% divided by 2, equaling 2.7122%. When factoring in raise bets, the average total amount wagered is about 2.79 units. Therefore, the element of risk is 5.4243%/2.79 = 1.94%.

Initially, three pairs offered a payout of 6 to 1, but this has shifted to a 5 to 1 payout currently. It's likely that most, if not all, Wager Works casinos have adjusted to a 5 to 1 payout, which is why I have listed 5 as the winning payout for three pairs in the table above. However, any game offering a 6 to 1 payout would lower the house edge to 3.58%.

The next table clarifies how the return on the side bet is analyzed. Essentially, the side bet consists of two separate bets—one half is focused on the player's hand and the other half on the dealer's. Therefore, in the event of a loss, I indicate only half a unit loss. Typically, the return column reflects the product of the probability and the payout. However, for this case, it’s doubled, due to the two hands impacting the bet.
