Turbo Poker
Introduction
Turbo Poker is a variant of jacks or better video poker where players pay for both the initial deal and the draw, a system often referred to as 'American Poker' – a term I use because of the existence of similar video poker styles in Germany. joker poker This game is offered by a specific software developer. Currently, no casinos utilizing this software are backed by the Wizard of Odds, meaning you will have to navigate the game independently if you decide to gamble with real money. Wazdan As in traditional video poker, players are required to place a bet before receiving their cards. Additionally, if they want to draw additional cards, they must make a second wager equal to the first.
Rules
- A conventional 52-card deck is used.
- Players cannot simply draw five new cards; they need to hold at least one card to proceed with drawing. If they click 'start' without holding any cards, it will interpret their action as a choice to end the current hand and begin fresh with a new deal.
- I reflected deeply on how best to showcase my analysis of this game. Typically, for video poker, I illustrate what a player might expect to return for their stake, which I usually present on a 'per unit' basis, since wins do not return the initial stake like they would in standard table games.
Analysis
In this scenario, losing could be more severe than just the loss of the original stake. A player could pay for a draw and still end up with nothing, leading to a loss of two units overall. Up until now, I have never included negative returns in a payout table based on the 'per unit' evaluation, as I believe this would cause confusion.
After considering various options, I've decided to treat this game similarly to table games by outlining the probability of each possible outcome, whether the player opted to draw or not. It's essential to note that the earnings for any hand are reduced by one unit if the player decides to take a draw instead of receiving their cards on the initial deal without drawing.
The cell at the bottom right indicates an expected loss of approximately 0.411652 units for every deal, representing a house edge of 41.2% when measured against a single wager (that's quite significant!). Players will engage in the raise bet 56.1% of the time, leading to an overall house advantage of 26.4% of the total bets placed.
