Introduction
Lucky 8's Wheel Poker is an exciting variant of video poker developed by IGT/Action Gaming. It operates similarly to classic 3- and 5-play video poker, permitting bets of 1 to 5 coins per line. When placing a bet of 10 coins per line, players activate a bonus feature. This feature grants players an additional spin for a bonus win if they are dealt a three of a kind or superior hand.
Rules
- Lucky 8's Wheel Poker closely mirrors traditional multi-play formats, enhancing the gameplay with an additional bonus feature as detailed further below. video poker The game offers both 3-play and 5-play options.
- When placing a bet of 1 to 5 coins per line, gameplay remains standard to traditional multi-play video poker.
- A bet of 10 coins per line activates the bonus feature, with payouts calculated based on a standard bet of five credits per line. The extra 5 credits per line serve as a cost to trigger the bonus.
- Moreover, betting 10 coins per line increases base game payouts for specific hands. In versions without wild cards, additional pay table entries are applied, as noted:
- A full house with three 8's awards a payout of 88.
- Four 8's pay a total of 2888.
- For versions with wild cards, further entries will be added to the payout table as such:
- Three 8's pay a total of 18.
A full house made up of three 8's yields a payout of either 18 or 28, contingent upon the specific pay table.- Five 8's pay a total of 88.
- Four 8's pay a total of 28.
- In deuces wild variations, if a player holds a hand like 288AA, the deuce is used to complete the most lucrative hand, in this case, an 8's full of aces.
- Three 8's pay a total of 8.
- With the bonus feature activated, if the player is dealt three of a kind or better, they will enter a bonus round following the draw.
- During the bonus round, players will spin a reward wheel consisting of eight segments. Seven of these segments result in immediate wins ranging from 188 to 8888. Should the wheel land on the dragon segment, the player will spin a different wheel that offers substantially larger prizes.
- From my research, the average win during the bonus round in a 3-play game is roughly 464, while in a 5-play game it is around 775. These averages may fluctuate based on the specific pay table being used. There are instances where a single pay table might display varying average bonus payouts.

Example
In the image above, I received three of a kind on the initial deal while using the maximum bet of 10 coins per line, which qualified me for the bonus round.
Once the draw concluded, I was invited to spin the prize wheel.
I held the three aces, obviously.
Unfortunately, none of my hands improved. Each trio of 8's won 15 credits. Together with the bonus win of 288, my overall total reached 333.
The wheel stopped on a win of 288 credits.
