Double Super Times Pay

Introduction

I first encountered the variant called Double Super Times Pay at the Suncoast casino in Las Vegas on October 27, 2010. This game can be enjoyed in a way that resembles traditional video poker, offering 3-play, 5-play, and 10-play options. Players can place an additional bet of 2 coins per round for two chances to win a random multiplier.

Rules

As mentioned earlier, with a bet of 7 coins per round, players are granted two opportunities to win a random multiplier. The initial chance occurs after the cards are dealt, with the second chance presented following the draw. Players even have an opportunity for a draw multiplier irrespective of whether they hold all five cards. Each multiplier chance has a probability of 1 in 15. If a multiplier is won, the average value will be 4.01. Players can also win multiple multipliers, which will be summed.

There's a special case for dealt royal flushes. For such hands, while the chance of attaining a multiplier from the deal remains 1 in 15, if achieved, the multiplier is a guaranteed 20, and no additional multiplier chance will be available on the draw. If the player does not hit the 20x multiplier from the deal, they will get another shot at a draw multiplier with the same odds of 1 in 15 and an average value of 4.01.

In the above illustration, I secured an 8x multiplier, resulting in my winnings of 5 for jacks or better multiplied by 8, yielding a total of 40, while the two pair contributed 10 multiplied by 8, adding up to 80.

Odds

To estimate the return on the Double Super Times Pay game, you can simply multiply the base return of any pay table by 1.00509 for an accurate approximation. Alternatively, for easier calculations, just increase the base return by 0.5%, which works quite well for games with returns close to 100%. For those who seek precision, if the return for the base game is denoted as b, then the return for the Super Times Pay version can be calculated as 1.004126984 times b plus 0.000921844.
