Street Dice

Introduction

Street Dice is an engaging dice game that first launched at the Downtown Grand casino in Las Vegas on May 16, 2014. It can be seen as a more straightforward adaptation of craps , featuring only two types of bets and a limit of four rolls to complete a bet. At the Grand, this game takes place outdoors, with the dice being thrown into a three-sided wooden box designed to resemble a narrow alley.

Rules

Street Dice involves just two types of bets, utilized with two standard dice.

Pass Bet

  1. The Pass bet must be placed before the initial \"Set the Point\" roll, similar to the come-out roll in craps.
  2. If the Set the Point roll results in a 7, the Pass bet stands firm.
  3. If the Set the Point roll shows an 11, the Pass bet is a win at even money.
  4. If the Set the Point roll is a 2, 3, or 12, the Pass bet loses.
  5. In all other scenarios, the number rolled becomes the Point. The goal is to roll the Point again within three additional rolls while avoiding a seven. The probability of success varies based on the Point and the roll outcomes, as outlined in the pay table below.
  6. Should a seven be rolled after the Set the Point or if three rolls pass without rolling either the Point or a seven (which I’ll refer to as receiving three strikes), the Pass bet will lose.

Pass Bet Pay Table

Roll Point
4, 10 5, 9 6, 8
1 5 to 1 4 to 1 3 to 1
2 4 to 1 3 to 1 2 to 1
3 3 to 1 2 to 1 1 to 1

dice

These are the dice utilized in the game. They are slightly larger than regular craps dice. I have heard that the Grand wanted to use even bigger dice, but these are the largest permitted by Nevada Gaming laws.

Some may question how bouncy the surface is; it feels akin to wet clay, causing the dice to occasionally settle exactly where they land.

Brick Bet

  1. The Brick bet is also made prior to the \"Set the Point\" roll.
  2. If the Set the Point roll results in a 7 or 11, the Brick bet maintains its position.
  3. If the Set the Point roll is a 2, 3, 5, 9, or 12, the Brick bet results in a loss.
  4. Otherwise, the rolled number becomes the Point. The objective is to re-roll the Point in a harder manner* within three additional rolls, without landing on either a seven or the Point in the easier fashion**. A successful outcome pays out at 25 to 1.
  5. If a player rolls a seven, rolls the Point in the easier way, or completes three rolls post the Set the Point without achieving either, the Brick bet results in a loss.
* The Hard Way involves rolling a specific even number with both dice showing the same value. For instance, rolling a five and another five gives a hard 10.
** The Easy Way is rolling a certain even number where both dice show different values. For example, a combination of four and six would yield an easy 10.
