San Diego Roulette
Introduction
According to California's Constitution, the outcome of roulette cannot be solely determined by the ball and wheel. This is how venues in the San Diego area are adapting to these regulations.
Barona
The only single-zero roulette wheel in the San Diego area is employed, along with a unique 37-card deck numbered from 0 to 36. Three cards are drawn and placed on designated sections of the table marked as '1-12', '13-24', and '25-36'. The range where the ball lands (whether it's 0-12, 13-24, or 25-36) determines which card is revealed, and that card is utilized to settle all bets.
Harrah's
Previously, Harrah's used a bingo hopper filled with 76 balls, which included two of each number from 1 to 36, plus 0 and 00. One ball would be drawn that matched the betting spin.
I've heard that there was an issue with the machine. I'm not aware of what alternative they might be using, if any.
Pala
The roulette wheel is designed with 38 slots, identified purely by color. These consist of 12 red, 12 white, 12 blue, and 2 green slots. The corresponding 38-card deck features one card for each possible outcome in double-zero roulette. Four cards are dealt from this deck onto the colored areas of the table, with one designated for each wheel color. The color where the ball lands is what determines which card is flipped, thereby deciding the betting outcome. There is also a bet option called 'Super Green', offering odds of 275 to 1 if the ball lands on a green slot and the 0 or 00 card is revealed. The odds of winning this bet are calculated as (2/38)*(2/38) = 0.28%, with a house edge of 23.55%.
Pauma, Sycuan
One card is drawn from a 38-card deck to represent the double-zero roulette wheel.
Locations include Harrah's Rincon, Pechanga, Valley View, Viejas.
38 cards are placed in a horizontal big six This describes the type of wheel used, where a dealer pulls a card based on where the flapper comes to rest.
Please refrain from contacting me to claim that Harrah's employs a hopper and numbered balls; they replaced that system with the card wheel many years ago.
Venues include La Posta, Golden Acorn, Santa Ysabel, Pechanga, Valley View.
No roulette offered.
