Crash Games At Online Casinos

Introduction

Crash games represent a distinctive and straightforward gaming concept. Players establish a target multiplier, with their chances of success inversely related to that target. The game visualizes this as a rocket that ascends rapidly, but eventually it will burst. The key objective for players is to predict a successful launch that reaches their designated target before the explosion occurs.

The game can go by other names SmartSoft Gaming calls their version of this game JetX and DraftKings calls it DK Rocket.

Players can set their desired multiplier goal anywhere up to approximately 1000 times their initial bet. Visually, the game depicts a spacecraft taking off at a base multiplier of 1. As time progresses, the spacecraft either ascends exponentially or meets its demise. Players must decide an altitude for ejection; if they eject successfully before the spacecraft detonates, they will win the product of their wager and the altitude at which they ejected.

Rules

The rules outlined here are inspired by the JetX game developed by SoftSwiss Gaming.

  1. Participants begin by selecting a wager and a multiplier goal that ranges from just above 1 to a maximum of 1000 times their stake.
  2. Once the betting interval concludes—lasting around 5.6 seconds—the spacecraft launches.
  3. The initial takeoff multiplier is set at 1.
  4. Approximately every 0.14 seconds, two distinct outcomes may occur:
    • With a 99% likelihood, the multiplier increases by roughly 1%.
    • There is a 1% chance that the spacecraft will explode.
  5. If the spacecraft remains intact and the newly calculated multiplier exceeds the player's predetermined goal, the pilot will eject, awarding the player their target multiplier.
  6. If the spacecraft remains in flight, refer back to the fourth rule.

To add complexity, players have the option to place one or two separate bets at varying multipliers during the same session. If they opt for this, it results in two pilots aboard the spacecraft, ejecting at altitudes chosen by the player.

During the 5.6 seconds between rounds, players aren't required to place a bet; however, they can opt to make a wager during an active round or enable autoplay to repeat their previous bets continuously.

Prior to placing my two bets, I had a balance of 975 GEL, although I'm not entirely sure what that translates to. I was playing in a mode designed for fun. As evidenced in the image above, my first bet of 5 was set with a target of 8 times my bet, totaling 40. The second bet, displayed in the box on the lower right, was 2, aiming for a multiplier of 3 times my stake, equating to 6. After the validation of these bets, my balance adjusted down to 968, which is displayed at the top of the screenshot.

The subsequent image was captured shortly after the spacecraft achieved a multiplier of 3. Immediately after surpassing this point, the first pilot ejected, as matched to the bet of 2 for the 3x payout. Initially, the ejection isn't visible, prompting me to wait until it reached 3.16x to clearly show the parachute.

The third snapshot captures the moment the spacecraft attained an 8x multiplier. After exceeding this threshold, the second pilot ejected, corresponding to my higher bet of 5 aimed at 8x. I deliberately delayed the screenshot to allow the parachute to be visible.

Ultimately, the spacecraft continued its ascent until it detonated at a multiplier of 11.52x, although that was of little consequence. My balance increased to 1014 GEL; from an initial total of 968, my returns were calculated as follows: the left bet produced 5 times 8, yielding 40, while the right bet returned 2 times 3, totaling 6. Therefore, my cumulative win amounted to 46, updating my balance to 1014.

Analysis

This game is reported to have a return rate of 97%.

For a wager targeting a multiplier of w times the original stake, the likelihood of winning stands at 0.97 divided by w. To illustrate, if the target multiplier is 3 times the stake, the probability of winning would thus be 0.97 divided by 3, resulting in a 32.33% chance. Essentially, the odds of winning decrease as the target multiplier increases.

The 97% return rate appears to be maintained mainly due to a 3% chance that the spacecraft fails to launch at all and crashes prior to takeoff. Once airborne, the game processes at a pace of about 400 calculations each minute, where each calculation carries a 99% chance of the multiplier incrementing by 1/99 of its previous amount, along with a 1% chance of explosion.

The more advanced readers may be interested to know that the average multiplier the spaceship achieves, assuming it gets off the runway, approaches e = 2.718281818x as the time until the explosion approaches the exponential distribution.

Rocket Man!

While testing this game for the article, I encountered a scenario where the spacecraft reached an astonishing multiplier of 12540.26. The game history can be viewed on the left side of the image below.
