Introduction

Cajun Stud is a table game by Galaxy Gaming that is the same as Mississippi Stud Inclusion of side bets is an exception to the norm. In Cajun Stud, players will gradually unveil a five-card hand. At three key junctures, players have the option to either multiply their Ante bet by one to three times or decide to fold.

Rules

Below are the key rules governing Cajun Stud.

  1. This game employs a standard deck of 52 playing cards.
  2. The Ante acts as the main initial wager. Additionally, players can engage in various side bets:
    • Board Bonus
    • Pocket Bonus
    • Lo Ball
  3. Once the bets are placed, each player receives two cards, while three community cards are dealt face down.
  4. Armed with two cards, players can choose to either raise their Ante bet by 1x to 3x or opt to fold.
  5. The dealer will now reveal the first community card.
  6. With three cards visible, players will get another chance to raise their Ante bet by 1x to 3x or fold.
  7. The dealer will now reveal the second community card.
  8. Upon seeing four cards, players can once more decide to raise their Ante bet by 1x to 3x or fold.
  9. The dealer will then reveal the third community card.
  10. All bets made for the Ante and Raise will be settled according to the pay table provided below.
  11. The Board Bonus is determined by the combination of the three community cards.
  12. The Pocket Bonus is based on the two cards held by the player.
  13. The Lo Ball is evaluated using the player's final five-card hand, aiming for the lowest possible score.

Strategy

To assist with strategic planning, I present the following terminology:

  • High card = jack to ace
  • Medium card = 6 to 10
  • Small card = 2 to 5

Here is the strategy to adopt at the first decision point:

  • Make large raise with any pair.
  • Consider making a medium raise with any of these combinations:
    • At least one high card
    • Two medium cards
    • 5/6 suited
  • Fold with any of the following:
    • Two small cards
    • A lower-ranked card partnered with a medium-ranked card, excluding 5-6 suited.

You can refer to my page for strategies pertinent to the second and third decision points. Mississippi Stud .

By the conclusion of the hand, the average wager will amount to 3.589772 times the Ante bonus. Consequently, the Element of Risk, which is defined as the ratio of expected loss to the total amount wagered, calculates to 4.9149%/3.589772 = 1.37%.
