Introduction

The game of 31 Classic is a recently introduced table game that was initially featured at Muckleshoot Casino in Washington. It is set to make its Las Vegas debut at Sunset Station on December 14, 2017. Its gameplay resembles that of a similar game devised by the same creator, making direct comparisons challenging. Money$uit 31 The main objective here is to combine the point values from up to three cards of the same suit to reach a hand that totals 17 points or more. Unlike traditional games, there isn't a dealer hand that you need to outscore; the focus is solely on the player's hand. The game employs the point values familiar from blackjack and incorporates a raise or fold option found in many poker variants.

At first glance, the rules might seem a bit complex, but you'll find that once you dive into a few rounds, the gameplay becomes much clearer. The strategies involved are straightforward, and the house edge is fairly favorable when compared to other newly released casino games.

Rules

Following are the rules for 31 Classic.

  1. One 52-card deck is used.
  2. Cards are scored just like in blackjack, except that aces consistently count as 11.
  3. The game commences with the player placing an Ante bet, along with an optional side bet called Natural 31 Bonus.
  4. The dealer distributes three cards to the player and one additional Draw card, which is face down.
  5. Once the player has reviewed their three-card hand, they must decide to either make a Play wager that matches their Ante bet or choose to fold.
  6. If a player opts to fold, the dealer will take their Ante wager. However, if the player had placed the Natural 31 Bonus bet, their cards will remain in play.
  7. The dealer will then reveal the player’s initial three cards and resolve the Natural 31 Bonus side bet.
  8. The dealer will also unveil the Draw card.
  9. To calculate the total points in the player’s hand, the dealer will assess cards of the same suit among the player's three cards along with the Draw card. The suit yielding the highest point total will define the value of the player’s hand. Notably, a three of a kind and a mini royal, which consists of a suited ace, king, and queen, are considered winning combinations and calculated separately from their point total.
  10. In a rare instance where all four cards belong to the same suit, the player can only use the three cards that yield the highest point values.
  11. The following tables outline the payout structures for both the Ante and Play bets.
  12. As previously mentioned, the payout for the Natural 31 Draw bet is determined by the value of the player's original three cards. The payout table is detailed below.

Here is the payout structure for Ante and Play bets. All winnings are presented on a 'to one' basis.

Example

In the scenario described, I accumulated 20 points in hearts with my first three cards, prompting me to place a Play bet. The Draw card I received was the four of hearts, bringing my total to 24 points in hearts. With that score, my Ante returned even money, while the Play bet offered a payout of 2 to 1. The Natural 31 Bonus payout was based on my initial three cards, summing up to 20 points, which paid at 1 to 1.

Strategy

Play if you have any of the following:

  • A suited hand totaling 15 or more from just two cards.
  • Two suits both 9 or higher.
  • Three suits all 7 or higher.
  • Pair of 7\"s or better
  • Pair of 2\"s - 6\"s with a suited 10 or better
