The league indicated that Green's return to play would be contingent on his engagement in counseling sessions due to a concerning series of incidents on the court linked to his unacceptable conduct. Before the incident with Nurkic, Green had previously put the Utah Jazz's center in a serious chokehold. The Warriors concurred with the NBA's procedural approach before his return was authorized.
